There is global recognition that we can improve the health of children into adulthood when we see the first two years of life as a key window of opportunity. Hello World: Watch Me Eat provides parents with the tools to make an impact on their child’s current and long-term nutrition and guide them to become role-models for their nutritional intelligence.
This edition welcomes registered Dietician, Slava de Gouveia who has been working in a state-funded facility for almost 10 years and along the way had her son, Jorge, both of which have combated her with great knowledge and understanding of introducing solids to you child.
Dr Diana Du Plessis
Diana du Plessis is an independent Midwifery consultant and researcher. She specializes in midwifery and neonatology and lectures widely to nursing professionals and academic audiences on a national and international level.
She is a passionate childbirth educator and national spokesperson on breastfeeding. She is the author and co-author of various nursing and midwifery publications (books and peer-reviewed articles).
Aneke Grobler
Aneke Grobler has completed her BCom Hon in Industrial Psychology and is currently working as the Operations Manager at a Health and Education centre.
Aneke is passionate about childcare and has been Dr Diana du Plessis’ right hand person since 2007. Diana is a great inspiration, mentor and friend.
She loves being the mother of 2 and a half year old Aiden.
Slava De Gouveia RD (SA)
Slava is a clinical dietitian registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, the Health and Care Professions Council in the UK and the Association for Dietetics in South Africa. She is also accredited with DNAnalysis and has extensive experience both in clinical nutrition as well as dietary counseling.
She completed her Bachelors in Dietetics at the University of Pretoria in 2009. She simultaneously worked at the High Performance Centre of the University of Pretoria, for a year, providing nutrition education to elite athletes.
Review by Prof Agnes van Dyk
Prof. van Dyk is the Director of the School of Health Sciences at IUM with effect from 01 April 2013. Before IUM, she was employed by UNAM as a full Professor till she resigned in 2012.
She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Namibia and various Professional nursing qualifications.
Prof. van Dyk has over twenty years of experience in nursing education in Namibia.
